Do I need a porta potty during a bathroom remodel?
A porta potty helps during a remodel when your only bathroom is torn out, or when you do not want crews tracking dust through the house. One standard unit serves a crew of up to 10 for a week. Families living at home through a remodel often choose a flushing unit with a sink.
What about a septic replacement or sewer repair?
A septic replacement in New Hampshire, Massachusetts or Maine often shuts off the house plumbing for 2 to 7 days. A porta potty in the driveway keeps the household going. A family of 4 needs one unit, usually with a mid-week service. Book it for the morning the excavator arrives.
For urgent breaks, see same-day delivery.
Where does a porta potty go at a house?
A home porta potty usually goes at the end of the driveway or beside the garage, on flat ground, within about 25 feet of where our truck can park. Keep it off the septic field, off the leach area and away from wells. Face the door away from the street for privacy.

Will my HOA or town allow a porta potty?
Most towns allow a porta potty on private property during active construction. HOAs and condo associations sometimes set placement or screening rules. A unit on the street or sidewalk usually needs a permit from the town's public works department. Check before booking if your driveway is shared.
Questions about home projects
Can my contractor order the unit for my house?
Your contractor or you can place the order. Tell us who pays and who the on-site contact is.
Will the truck damage my lawn?
The truck stays on the driveway or street. The unit is moved on a dolly, so lawn placement is fine when the ground is firm.
How long do remodel rentals last?
Most bathroom remodels run 2 to 6 weeks. Rentals bill every 28 days, and billing stops on the pickup date.
