Does Grant Rental Works deliver as far north as Portland?
Southern Cumberland County is the north edge of our service area. Portland, South Portland and Scarborough are about 80 to 90 road miles from Salem, NH. Call by 10 AM for same-day delivery, and expect a rush fee may apply. A booking 1 to 2 business days out is easier to schedule.
Towns farther north or inland, past Gray and Freeport, may be outside our normal range. Call and ask before you plan around us.
What kinds of Portland-area jobs use portable toilets?
Most requests come from building and renovation work and from summer events. Older homes in Portland and South Portland get gutted and rebuilt, and crews need a unit for weeks. New housing and commercial work along Route 1 in Scarborough keeps jobsite units busy too.
- Jobsites: standard unit on a 28-day cycle with weekly cleaning.
- Waterfront weddings: flushing unit with sink, or a restroom trailer.
- Street fairs and races: standard units plus hand-wash stations.
Who handles permits for a unit on a street in Cumberland County?
Each city or town sets its own rules. In Portland, check with the Department of Public Works for anything in the street or sidewalk, and the city's special events office for events. South Portland and Scarborough have their own public works departments and town or city clerks.
Condo and neighborhood associations may also have rules about where a unit can sit. Ask them before delivery day.
Cumberland County questions
Is Portland too far for you to service a unit every week?
Portland is near the far edge of our range, but weekly service is included on 28-day rentals there. Our trucks reach Portland, South Portland and Scarborough on a set route. If your site is north of Portland or out on an island, call first so we can confirm the plan.
How early do I need to call for a same-day unit in South Portland?
Call by 10 AM. South Portland is more than 80 miles from our Salem, NH yard, so a truck needs the full day for the trip. Same-day depends on truck availability, and a rush fee may apply. For planned work, booking 1 to 2 business days ahead is better.
Can I get an accessible unit for an outdoor event in Scarborough?
Wheelchair-accessible units are available for events across southern Cumberland County. They have a roll-in floor, a wide door and grab bars. Place them on firm, level ground close to the main path, not on sand or soft grass. Pair one with a hand-wash station for food areas.
